Paid Social Lead

← Back to all Paperlike jobs

Intro

In 2017, Jan Sapper, Paperlike’s founder and CEO, developed and launched a screen protector for the iPad that became an instant hit with digital artists and notetakers.

Since then, we’ve come a long way.

Today, we sell professional accessories for iPad users worldwide via our Shopify store, Amazon, and in retail stores around the world. We’ve built a global team (24 amazing people from all over the world) and a brand that is well-respected in our community.

And that's where you come in. Paid social is a core growth channel for us, and we're ready to bring in someone who can own it properly: tightening our paid social testing strategy, keeping the Meta account sharp, and helping us launch and scale on TikTok.

About this Role

We're looking for a part-time Paid Social Lead (10-15 hours per week) to own our paid social channels, starting with Meta and expanding to TikTok within the year.

You bring deep fluency in the Meta ads platform, a strong understanding of what makes paid creative work in D2C and omnichannel businesses, and the discipline to run a rigorous creative testing program. You don't need to produce assets yourself. You need to know exactly what to brief, why, and how to measure whether it worked.

You'll be accountable not just for ROAS and the usual performance metrics, but for the volume and quality of creative tests we run each month.

What will you do as Paperlike's Paid Social Lead?

Paid Media Strategy & Buying

  • Own paid media strategy and buying across Meta: channel strategy, campaigns, testing, audience, budgets, bids, and placements
  • Stay current on Meta platform releases and algorithm changes, and know when and how to adapt
  • Collaborate with our external agency partner, who also generate creatives for us to test alongside our internal activity. You'll coordinate to avoid overlap and share learnings where useful
  • Build and execute our TikTok Ads strategy in line with our planned expansion into TikTok Shop

Creative Testing Strategy

  • Own the creative testing program: define what we're testing, why, and what we'll learn, with a target cadence for new tests per month
  • Develop clear, well-reasoned briefs for video (João), static (Joss/Deniz), and our copywriter (Pat), bringing a strong point of view on hook, format, and message based on performance data
  • Participate in the Ad Factory Meetings alongside João and members of the growth team, providing reporting and insights as well as new ideas for our creative pipeline
  • Use performance data to close the loop: feed learnings back into the next brief cycle

Accountability & Reporting

  • Report on ROAS, CAC, paid revenue contribution, CPM, CPC, CTR, and budget utilization on a regular cadence
  • Track and report on creative test volume as a core measurable alongside performance metrics
  • Work with Eliza for timely delivery of ad assets from the various content contributors: João (video), Joss and Deniz (static), Pat (Copywriter), and Kayla's team (influencer content)
  • Translate data into clear recommendations for what to do next, not just what happened

This role is for you if:

  • You have 3+ years of hands-on Meta Ads experience and are genuinely up-to-date on the platform: ASC, Advantage+ Creative, all of it.
  • You have 3+ years of experience leading paid social creative testing strategy, combined with your media buying experience. You know what to brief, how to brief it, and how to measure whether it worked.
  • You have a strong understanding of creative performance in D2C and omnichannel businesses. You don't need to make the creative yourself, but you need to know what good looks like and why.
  • You have 2+ years of running TikTok Ads and understand how paid creative strategy differs across the two platforms. We plan to scale TikTok before the end of the year, so recent experience with the platform is necessary.
  • You're organized and systematic. You can design and run a testing program, track it, and make reporting/learnings legible to other people.
  • You're an effective collaborator. Working with a video lead, a designer, a copywriter, and a brand team requires clarity and follow-through, not just good ideas.
  • You're comfortable working independently in a remote, async-first environment.
  • You're fluent in English, with strong written communication skills.

Who will you work with (mostly)?

You will have significant independence in your work, but these are the people you’ll probably work with most:

  • Eliza. Head of Growth Marketing & Ops. You'll report to her and work closely on strategy, budget, performance reporting, and holding the broader team accountable for creative output.
  • João. Video Lead and our creative strategist for paid ads. He's been running our Meta ads on top of his video production responsibilities, so you'll work very closely together: you'll brief him on testing priorities and work together on creative direction and ideas. The goal is a faster, more productive brief-to-test loop for both of you.
  • Joss & Deniz. Creative Lead and Designer. You'll brief them on static ad concepts and work with them to maintain a steady pipeline of creative tests.
  • Kayla. Head of Brand Awareness. You'll coordinate on influencer and UGC content that feeds into paid campaigns.
  • Sebastian. Our CMO and fearless marketing leader.
  • The broader Paperlike team, a fully remote group of ~25 people spread across the world.

Money, Time & Position Type

  • This role can be filled anywhere in the world, but we’d need at least 3 hours overlap with CET for team coordination
  • This is a freelance, part-time position (10-15 hours), although you’re absolutely flexible in when and where you work
  • Pay is highly competitive and commensurate with experience
  • Please, no agencies. We are looking for an individual contributor to be an extension of our internal team.

About Paperlike

Company Mission

At Paperlike, we provide top-quality iPad accessories designed specifically for creators and doers. Whether we create them ourselves or source them from trusted partners, you can trust that when you shop with us, you get the best accessories to help you do your best work.

Our Products

We started Paperlike as a screen protector brand that accidentally (then deliberately) created a new category in iPad accessories.

Today the Paperlike Screen Protector is still our flagship product and what we’re most known for. In its third iteration, the Paperlike helps creatives, students, teachers, and productivity geeks achieve a better experience while writing and drawing on their iPads.

The surface technology, called Nanodots, gives users more precision, better stroke resistance, and increased endurance when writing or drawing while maintaining minimal light refraction to keep the display as clear as possible.

We’ve extended our product line to other accessories that assist prosumers and professionals using iPads for work and play.

The Company

Jan founded Paperlike in 2017 as a side business to solve his own need for a better iPad and Apple Pencil experience. Since he loves crowdfunding, he launched a Kickstarter for the Paperlike and was blown away by the response. He soon left his job and made Paperlike a full-time endeavor.

Jan grew the business quickly with minimal outside help, using laser focus and tons of automation, before bringing in additional help to continue scaling.

Now in 2026, we’re a team of about 25 people. However, at our core, we still operate the same way. We relentlessly focus on things that matter and automate whatever we can to free our time and minds.

Our team is 100% remote and spread all over the world — from New York to Serbia, from Germany to China.

Our Core Values

👩‍⚖️ Honorable & Human

We are honest and vulnerable and proud of a safe work environment where everyone can be themselves. We care about mental health. We run a strict no-asshole policy. We’re honorable. Our word and handshake count, and we put action where our mouth is. We treat customers and partners as people, not numbers.

💎 Growth Mindset

We strive to be content, but we’re never satisfied. We want to be the best in class. Continuous learning and staying on top of trends is ingrained in our DNA. Bringing learnings into action is key. We use creativity to solve complex situations and don’t rely on standards.
