Video Content Creator

Intro

In 2017, Jan Sapper, Paperlike’s founder and CEO, developed and launched a screen protector for the iPad that became an instant hit with digital artists and notetakers.

Since then, we’ve come a long way.

Today, we sell professional accessories for iPad users worldwide through our Shopify store, Amazon, and retail stores. We’ve built a global team (27 amazing people from all over the world) and a brand that is well-respected in our community.

And that’s where you come in. We’ve built a solid foundation with 250k+ followers across all social media platforms. Now we’re looking for the right individuals to take our socials to the next level as part-time content creators.

About this Role

We're looking for two (2) part-time content creators to become integral members of our social team at Paperlike. You'll create 6-7 videos per month showcasing our iPad accessories (specifically our Screen Protector), while bringing your creative expertise to help us connect with iPad users who want a better writing and drawing experience. This isn't a one-off collaboration—you'll be part of monthly strategy calls, contribute creative direction, and work directly with our social media manager to build content that performs.

We're hiring for two distinct content focuses:

  • Digital Art Creator: Content centered on digital illustration, drawing techniques, artist workflows, and creative processes
  • Productivity/Lifestyle Creator: Content focused on planning, notetaking, organization systems, and iPad-powered productivity

What will you do as a Paperlike Content Creator?

Content Production

  • Film and edit six (6) videos per month for organic social, working from brand-provided topics and goals
  • Deliver trend-based content 1-2 times per month (part of the 6) with faster turnaround when opportunities arise
  • Naturally incorporate Paperlike products while sharing valuable information with our audience
  • Provide raw footage + edited final to Paperlike with each delivery

Creative Strategy

  • Contribute ideas on what content formats and approaches will perform best
  • Participate in monthly brainstorming calls to shape content direction
  • Spot and pitch relevant trends that align with our brand

Collaboration

  • Work directly with the social team via Slack and Notion for briefs, feedback, and approvals
  • Meet standard one-week turnaround from brief/idea to delivery (flexible for trend content)
  • Communicate proactively about creative decisions and potential challenges

This role is for you if:

  • You have expertise and content presence in either digital art or productivity/lifestyle content using an iPad.
  • You can consistently deliver high-quality filmed and edited video content on a weekly basis.
  • You understand what makes content perform on social platforms and can articulate why.
  • You're comfortable working with brand direction while adding your creative perspective.
  • You’re fluent in English, with excellent written communication skills.
  • You can balance planned content with reactive, trend-driven work.
  • You're excited about being a regular part of a brand's content strategy, not just a vendor.

Who will you work with (mostly)?

  • Kayla, our Head of Brand Awareness, who manages partnerships, social media, and marketing campaigns.
  • Giselle, our Social Media Manager, who manages all things social and short-form content from creators. You’ll be working closely with her on timelines, approvals, trends, etc.

Money, Time & Position Type

  • This role can be filled anywhere in the world, but we'd need you to be available for occasional video calls with the team sometime between 9:00 and 17:00 CET.
  • This role is structured as a paid part-time position. All content created for Paperlike would be considered work-for-hire, with full ownership of filmed content granted to Paperlike for use across organic and paid channels.
  • Pay is highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
  • Either freelance (international) or employed (Germany). See more in the FAQ.

The Company

Jan founded Paperlike in 2017 as a side project to solve his own need for a better iPad and Apple Pencil experience. Since he loves crowdfunding, he launched a Kickstarter for the Paperlike and was blown away by the response. He soon left his job and made Paperlike a full-time endeavor.

Jan grew the business quickly with minimal outside help, using a laser focus and tons of automation, before bringing in additional help to continue scaling.

Now in 2026, we're a team of about 27 people. However, at our core, we still operate the same. We relentlessly focus on the things that matter and automate whatever we can to free our time and minds.

Our team is 100% remote and is spread all over the world — from New York to Turkey, from Germany to China.

Our Core Values

🐣 Small Giant

Paperlike is a small giant. We strive to be the best in our niche but are comfortable not reaching for the stars. We look for healthy growth with as few people as possible. We're thrifty, not cheap. We leverage technology to achieve our goals wherever possible.

👑 Ownership

We take ownership of the role we have and think like an entrepreneur. That means taking responsibility, self-organizing, and operating with a "get shit done" attitude. We are brave and take risks.

We own issues and handle them.

👩‍⚖️ Honorable & Human

We are honest and vulnerable and are proud of a safe work environment where everyone can be themselves. We care about mental health. We run a strict no-asshole policy. We're honorable. Our word and handshake count, and we put our action where our mouth is.

We treat customers and partners as people, not numbers.

💎 Growth Mindset

We strive to be content, but we’re never satisfied.

We want to be the best in class. Continuous learning, and being on top of trends is ingrained in our DNA. Bringing learnings into action is key. We use our creativity to solve complex situations and don't rely on standards.

FAQ

  • What does the hiring process look like? After submitting your application, qualified candidates will be invited to an initial interview. If we decide to move forward with you, there will be a paid trial period of two (2) weeks and we will decide from there.
  • Why is this a freelance position outside of Germany? Simply put: We’re a German company, and it’s much easier to work across borders with the best candidates using a freelance structure. The majority of our team works on a freelance basis. We’re still one team and it doesn’t feel like internal vs. external. If you NEED an employee contract, please let us know and we’ll try to find a way.
